"Success is not final. Failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts." - Winston Churchill
So much has happened in the past four months that as I look at my last blog post, it makes me happy to know where my head was in the beginning of the year. That I knew to not be afraid to get away from the mundane and do things outside of one's comfort zone. I traveled, accomplished goals, and became a better person internally. Not to say that I am finished with everything that I want to do, but I am truly happy at what I have done so far.
Sometimes I wish that we were all given a road map for life. So that I can know what to do at each point in life and be the best person I can be through life. In school, we are given a degree audit that tells us exactly what we need to do in order to graduate. Even further, we are given a syllabus that maps out what will be accomplished throughout the year. I knew what to do and when to do them. However, life has no syllabus or road map. We learn our lessons through experiences and gain character through the years. Truly, it is the courage to continue that really counts.
It is the courage to continue when life doesn't seem to be going right and everything around you seems that it has turned itself upside down. It is the courage to continue when the world around us cries out for justice and equality. It is the courage to continue when you see a new life beginning and a young one ending. It is the courage to stand true to yourself when everyone else doubts. It is courage, hope, and faith that must truly define our lives. I, for one, do not know what the future holds, but I know that I will press on. No matter what uncertainty lies ahead, courage will remain.
